Over 50 places in Detroit you can reach by DDOT buses 24/7

On May 1, DDOT is set to roll out its new and simplified Dart payment system. Riders will be able to purchase passes of various lengths that are usable on any DDOT or SMART bus throughout its duration.

And last year, DDOT created 24-hour routes, added Wi-Fi to buses, and partnered with Lyft to give discounts on last mile commutes.

These incremental changes have provided those who depend on the bus a more reliable system.

But it also increases access to many local restaurants, hospitals, schools, and sporting events, and will hopefully encourage ridership among everyone.

“The 24-hour routes in Detroit connect residents to the surrounding neighborhoods, restaurants, breweries, bars, theaters, stores, and sporting events,” says local transit advocate David Gifford. “No need to drag your car from place to place, pay for parking, worry about parking tickets, getting towed, or paying for costly ride hailing services. Transit also provides the opportunity to integrate into the fabric of Detroit rather than driving through it.”
